RIDING PROGRAMS

THERAPEUTIC AND ABLE BODIED RIDING LESSONS

Hope Haven provides riding lessons to riders of all ages and abilities.

Therapeutic riding lessons for area residents with special needs following the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) standards.  Our goal is to provide a program that is safe, professional, ethical and fun for clients of all ages and abilities.

Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to the human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in the following:

  •   flexibility

  •   balance

  •   muscular strength

Therapeutic riding can also benefit clients with cognitive disabilities in the following areas:

  • sequencing

  • fine and gross motor skills

  • confidence

  • interpersonal relationships

  •  following directions

Riding lessons are available in many different disciplines, are taught by qualified Equine Professionals.  All Equine Professionals are overseen by Christina Menke and have been approved by Hope Haven Horse Farm Board of Directors.
