MENTORING AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

 

Hope Haven Horse Farm, Inc. welcomes mentors and volunteers of all ages and we have a wide variety of areas in which each individual’s talents and abilities are best suited.  During 2008, volunteers  clocked 6,974.75 hours at Hope Haven.  More than 30 volunteers helped out.  A Volunteer recognition day was held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 with a luncheon following the awards presentations.  There were 1 Bronze award, 1 Silver award and 7 Gold Awards presented to volunteers.  There were also  Lifetime Awards presented to two volunteers for volunteering more than 4,000 hours each.  Below are a few pictures from the 2008 Volunteer Awards Day.

During 2009 Hope Haven continues to value all of our volunteers, providing the following:

Hope Haven is an Official Certifying Organization for the President's Volunteer Service Awards.  We are able to certify volunteerism and order awards from the Points of Light Foundation for volunteers who serve at other organizations.  Volunteers must serve for a minimum number of hours in order to qualify for a Gold, Silver or Bronze awards.  In 2006, Six Hope Haven volunteers earned awards which were awarded in the spring of 2007.  During 2007, 8 volunteers earned awards which have been awarded.

Mentors and Volunteers have come from the following:

  •         Putnam County Businesses

  •         Hendricks County Businesses

  •     Home Schooled Teens

  •         Area 30

  •         Individuals from Putnam County

  •         Individuals from Hendricks County

  •         Individuals from Owen County

  •         Hendricks County 4-H Program

  •         Putnam County Community Service Projects

  •         Hendricks County Community Service Projects

Volunteer Opportunities include but are not limited to the following areas:

  •         Leading a horse

  •         Sidewalking

  •         Lunging and Spotting practice riders

  •         Stable management

  •         Medical field

  •         Therapy field

  •         Shows

  •         Clinics

  •        Field Trips

  •         Chaperones

  •         4-H
