HOOF BEATS – APRIL 2011 NEWSLETTER

FROM

HOPE HAVEN HORSE FARM

Spring has finally arrived at Hope Haven.  We are preparing for another year of lessons, volunteering and having fun.  The volunteers had a farm clean up day last month and things are looking more like spring.  Lessons will be starting soon and we will also have a volunteer recognition day to honor our 9 Presidential Volunteer Award winners for 2010.  Volunteers worked a total of 3060 hours during 2010.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are planning a rummage sale at the farm for June 1 thru June 5, 2011.  These dates coincide with the US Highway 40 Yard Sales which run from Ohio to Illinois. The Board thought this would be an excellent time to raise some money for the farm.
We will need lots of help for this to be a success.  We can use volunteer help, being students, parents, grandparents, neighbors, and anyone else that could be of help to us as the days will probably start around 7 a.m. and end between 6 and 7 p.m. The sale items will be in the indoor arena.  We hope for good weather because of parking, but we will not have to move items inside at night time.
Any items that you wish to donate could be taken to the farm May 28, 29 and 30.  This is a must for us to be ready to start the sale on Wednesday, June 1.

Glenda will send a sign-up sheet of dates and times for workers in the near future. The more items we have to sell and the more helpers we have, the more profitable it will be for Hope Haven.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We thank the James O and Alice F Cole Foundation for their generous grant of $500 for Hope Haven Programs.  They have supported Hope Haven since its inception in 2001.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to the Indiana Quarter Horse Association for their grant of $1,000 for Hope Haven’s programs.  This group had a trail ride last fall and awarded grants to non profits from the proceeds of the ride.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope Haven’s 4th annual bowl-a-thon and silent auction was a very big success.  We thank the many donors for items for the silent auction, lane sponsorships, and the beautiful antique quilt for the raffle.  This year we had our largest bowl-a-thon so far.  We look forward to even better results in 2012.

Jill Wells Endowment for Hope Haven

If you would like to donate to the endowment, please contact Dean Gambill or Elaine Peck at the Putnam County Community Foundation (765-653-4978) or go to their website at: www.pcfoundation.org

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope Haven riding arena will be closed for riding from May 28 through June 5, 2011 because of the Highway 40 yard sale which will be held in the area.
